The Greater Vancouver Area includes Vancouver, The North Shore (North Vancouver and West Vancouver)Burnaby,Richmond, Coquitlam, New Westminster| Surrey & Delta. It is British Columbia’s largest urban area, with its 2 million people population. Vancouver is also Canada’s 3rd largest urban area, after only Toronto and Montreal. Its spectacular nature and location just North of Seattle, at the border between Canada and the United States (mountains to the North and West and the Pacific Ocean to the west) make Vancouver a popular tourist destination. Vancouver is also home to one of North America’s busiest ports, and is an important commercial center. The has a very diverse population, with large immigrant communities from East and South Asia, as well as from many European countries. Its warm (but rainy) climate (in fact, one of the mildest in Canada) makes Vancouver also a popular place for retirement. Vancouver has been often ranked as one of the cities with the highest life quality in the world. The economy of Vancouver has traditionally relied on British Columbia's resource sectors: forestry, mining, tourism, fishing, agriculture. However, it has diversified significantly in recent decades. It is also the third largest film production center in North America, after Los Angeles and New York. Vancouver and nearby resort Whistler are the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
